A memorial was held at The Piedmont Grand Opera House for Alexander Tyrone “Ty” Merriweather, who had spent years as the facility’s production guru. Although his title was Assistant Technical Director, anyone who encountered Ty backstage knew he was much more than that. This “gentle giant” truly loved his work, and would go to great lengths to ensure every performance was top-notch. He was a beloved member of the Nutcracker crew, and will be greatly missed.
If it’s true that “clothes make the man,” do costumes make the performance? Not to take anything away from the spectacular scenery and, of course, the amazing local and professional dancers in the Nutcracker of Middle Georgia’s shows, but… those costumes!
